Farm to Home Milk
Whenever I went to see my grandfather he’d fix me up a glass of ice cold chocolate milk and butter me a slice of fresh rye bread. He stirred until no more syrup stuck to the bottom of the glass and a froth rose to the top. While we ate and drank he entertained me with stories from when he still had an ice man and a milk man. Pop said that in those days his whole world was within a mile. Fresh local food was a matter of course – there was no other kind. Farm to Home Milk is about the days my grandfather lived. Local and fresh food brought to you weekly on ice in your own personal dairy box left outside your front door. Having this daily quality made Pop’s life feel solid and assured. It was a simple kind of consistency that a child could recognize and feel. The impact that time spent with my grandfather had on my life is beyond what I can say. Honoring those moments requires me to do something in accord with that spirit of solidity, simplicity, and constancy. Farm to Home Milk is the most basic expression of that doing. Farm to Home Milk’s products are all produced by sustainable farming practices with a delivery method as dependable and personal as my grandfather recalled with such joy. Thanks for allowing my family to carry the legacy of simplicity and consistency forward. – Jonathon, Tami, Ren, and Eve – The Farm to Home Milk Family Learn more.

After selling their New Jersey restaurant, The Twisted Tree Café in Asbury Park, they moved to Asheville intending to open another café. Needing a little downtime between restaurants, they decided to bring their baked goods to local farm markets, thinking it would be a great way to introduce their products and themselves to the community. Within a month of moving to town, their home kitchen was certified. They began to bake and were soon actively selling baked goods and breads at local tailgate markets. Always thinking of new and fun goods for markets, they experimented one morning and made a batch of crackers. Later that day, they brought them to the market and they immediately sold out!
